Coated paper
Coated paper has a surface coating that holds ink on top of the sheet for sharper detail and brighter color.
Gloss, silk and matte are all coated. Coated paper is the usual choice for photo-heavy brochures, postcards and catalogs. It is harder to write on and some coatings resist inkjet addressing.
